The Review
Arrowhead's co-op third-person shooter launched in early 2024 to outsized acclaim — OpenCritic still rates it "Mighty" with the large majority of critics recommending it — built on chaotic squad-based missions against alien hordes in service of "Super Earth."
That critical high has clashed with a rockier ride on the player side. Steam's all-time rating remains "Mostly Positive," but 2026 has seen repeated review-bomb waves — community sentiment has dipped to "Mostly Negative" more than once — driven largely by balance changes players feel swing between overpowered and useless, and by frustration that a $40 game now carries well over $100 in purchasable content.
Concurrent player counts have fallen alongside the backlash, and an AMA with the studio's creative leadership reportedly left many players feeling unheard — though Arrowhead has since published an apology and promised more communication going forward.
